This is tragic. Lisa Marie found her daddy dead, with the needle still in his arm - down in the Jungle Room of Graceland. Cher wrote a song about it. He and Melissa Etheridge’s son, IDK why people are feeling sorry and paying tribute ti them like they’d done things worthy of tribute. They led wasted lives getting high and living off of mom’s money. They contributed nothing to society except line the pockets of local drug dealers. Born into money and privilege yet not taking advantage. Their parents share responsibilities too.

Leah Remini has a new podcast where she recently spoke about how Scientology parents are, by definition, neglectful (kids are really raised by their Scientology mentors) as well as what Scientology does to kids with depression or drug addiction. She mentioned the suicide rate was high because Scientologists blame the kid, no matter how young (they do not acknowledge mental illness, autism, or even cancer as anything other than symptoms of being a "bad" Scientologist). She also mentioned all of this within the context of Travolta's and Lisa Marie's family trauma. I wonder if his suicide was related to that indoctrinated mindset.

I think there is a middle ground where kids can be empowered by pointing out that they can choose their own fate and sometimes there is a learning curve where bad decision are being made, but these teachable moments can make things more clear for the kid.
What's bad is when cults like Scientology place themselves in a position where only they are in charge of their members' lives and only Scientology knows what's best for its members.
