Haven’t finished this thread, but here are a few very important things:
If you’re into weird shit, (and NO, I don’t mean pedophilia or even hebephilia) always have a large amount of cash that is easily accessible by someone whom you pay VERY well, aka: someone you can trust for now. Trust me, you will need the cash. Especially if you’re filming outside of the US, & while in a blackout, you dislocated the Russian escort’s jaw.
Speaking of cash... find the most trustworthy, long-standing, reputable money people in town to handle your money once it starts rolling in, ESPECIALLY if you have a problem with booze and/or drugs. When starting out (assuming you start getting work), save it. Save as much as you can, and if applicable, invest wisely, because someday you might find that you’re no longer working.
Be nice to your housekeeper, Conchita. Treat her like a queen, & pay her well, because the bigger you become, the greater chances are that Conchita will become your best friend.
Almost EVERYTHING coming out of everyone’s mouth is total bullshit, yours included.
Almost everyone who you know is too self absorbed to genuinely care about you. No one gives a rat’s ass about you, & if they do, it’s 100% conditional. If you’re an asshole, this includes your partner, and your kids. But hey, you’ll always have Conchita.
Do NOT get fat, unless you’re already fat, & you’re always typed as the fat friend or fat protagonist in some rom-com or straight up comedy flick.
Almost every single actor/actress out there is certifiably NUTS. I promise you. There’s often a personality disorder or mental illness. Addiction is also usually in the mix. Most of these people come from highly dysfunctional homes, & have been escaping via “playing pretend”, in order to cope since childhood.
NEVER marry a fellow actor, unless you want the inevitable divorce.
If you have a true passion for acting, do theater. It’s almost just as hard to break into, but at least a wee bit more possible. Almost everyone in the industry can’t act, and the ones who actually can, rarely make it. But if you get hired in legitimate theater, you can most probably act.
And last, but not least, if there is some other industry that you can get into, go with that industry instead. The entertainment industry is one of the most ruthless industries that you can pursue, only to be rivaled by politics. Almost every power hungry & corrupt politician out there could easily fit into Hollywood’s eco system, & probably succeed.
