Although she's had a fair share of hits, she's always been on the fray of the other pop singers in terms of success and clout. I want to know, WHO actually listened to her music when it was released and, for that matter, still listens to it? I don't even recall back in the early 2000s anyone who actively listened to her.

Most of her songs are horrible. I don't know which is worst waterboarding or listening to jlo songs.

Her music was so bland when you consider what a massive star she was in the 00s.

I have to admit, I do. I like that her music is upbeat and fun and I loved her aesthetic back in the day. She knew the importance of a good music video and she had a look that was entirely her own. I loved this video:

She still did pretty well internationally as a recording artist. Some of her most forgettable songs were worldwide hits.

“Music” should be in quotation marks.

I can't believe no has has linked to her best song.

Another one I like
And yes, I know, she can’t sing! But she’s a great dancer and I loved her style back in the day

She’s not a good or even unique singer. “Waiting for Tonight” would have been had it been recorded by Cher.

R11 lol, that episode was fucking hilarious, though they would never get away with it today . Remember the scene when Cartman gave Ben Affleck a handjob?

I just remember she had three different songs on the chart at the same time-all variations of her announcing "She's REAL" -I'm Real, then You're Real and I'm just the tramp down the street---It was obvious she had a complex about being authentic (even though she doesn't actually write or sing her own terrible songs)...

R11 LOVE that episode, but agree with the poster above, if South Park had made that episode today they would be ripped off air and shunned from Hollywood forever.
Also, I remember Trey Parker saying in a commentary that he heard JLo requested people to be fired off one of her movies because people kept singing the song behind her back. After he and Trey dressed as JLO and Gwyneth for the Oscars, he saw her at a party and everytime she passed him she would shove him without making eye contact.

Remember when J-HO did that interview in the 90's talking smack about other actresses? "Winona? She's so boring to watch. My friends and I don't like her. Gwentyh? So overrated. Claire Danes? Who is that..." Paraphrasing but that was the gist of it..

That handjob was pretty shocking when it first aired. Definitely one of the best, if not the best, celebrity episodes they've done.

When I found out Christina Milian sang the chorus of almost all her singles on her first few albums, I knew I couldn't look at Jennifer the same way again.

R17 Yes!!! I wish I could find the whole interview... I remember it began with the reporter being led to her backyard, where she was receiving a full body massage poolside wearing a gold bikini.... she knew what she was doing.

Her music is fine, just pop. But I've always loved her look. And she's a Fly Girl FFS. And an underrated actress.

Allegedly, the collaboration song, "I'm real," with Ja Rule was slated for Mariah - Howevah, J-Lo wanted it and Tommy couldn't resist -

I have never listened to her music on purpose but I did like her in the movie about Selena. I think JLo owes her career to the murder of Selena.

Blah. She's no better or worse than absolute mediocre.

When I think of Jennifer Lopez I think of this.....

Jennifer Lopez's talent is looking rich at least 95% of the time. Nobody else in Hollywood or entertainment seem capable of doing that. Maybe because they have talent to depend on, I don't know, but Jenny knows how to do "fresh to death" with aplomb. But don't chat to me about any dancing, ( she can't "bubble" outside of "choreography") singing (God, cry!), or acting ( that contrived hair on that series she does with Ray Liotta needs a Grammy, Emmy and medication all of its own). Jennifer Lopez if proof positive that projection is reality. She thinks she is, therefore she is...even if nobody see believes it. Good for her. I like that she likes bathing, if nothing else at all. Too many underrate it.
What is it about her penchant since post fly Girl fame for men of a bisexual ( rumoured and known) persuasion? And she's a smoker isn't she....it kind of shows ...face is very "tuff" now.

I think Jennifer’s “I’m Real” persona was the key to her early success. She had this down pat before Jennifer Lawrence even became famous for it. She made her fan base believe that she’s so down to earth that she’d actually want to hang out with them. She projected an image like she would be just as comfortable hanging out at the neighborhood bodega as she would attending the Met Gala. Not to mention she wasn’t shy about mentioning her love of God... appearing to be down to earth is super important to a Latino fan base

Great find, r18. I forgot she was a real b*tch in the first bloom of her success. That explains why everyone still hates her -- and Mariah still doesn't know her.

She has a thin voice (like Paula Abdul) but her songs were fun. Like most pop music, they don’t age well
