Ted Cruz is a Congressional Republican who is actually doing something.

Unlike his colleagues who refuse to govern because they are too busy trying to concoct investigations into anything they don't like, Sen. Cruz is defending real Americans and what is most pressing to them. Have you ever thought that your coffee maker was spying on you? Ted wants to be your voice! All hail a man who puts aside partisan politics to champion real threats to the American public.

He's a national embarrassment and an argument against democracy.

[quote]Have you ever been making air fryer fries at 3am and asked yourself “is this thing spying on me?”

Totally ridiculous.

Although, I've always had my suspicions about that bottle of ketchup. You know the one.

by Anonymousreply 3July 12, 2023 10:36 PM

He's also the poster child of why abortion should be legal and encouraged. If only he was 86d at 14 weeks...

by Anonymousreply 4July 12, 2023 10:38 PM

^^ Not to mention, mercy killing.

by Anonymousreply 5July 12, 2023 10:39 PM

My air-fryer is so busy taking selfies and making TikTok videos that it doesn't have the time to spy on me.

by Anonymousreply 6July 12, 2023 10:40 PM

Not to mention he's the son of immigrants who opposes immigrants

by Anonymousreply 7July 12, 2023 10:40 PM

I'm all for knowing if connected devices are eavesdropping or spying. And I'm all for making their eavesdropping only occur by prior opt-in consent.

But give us a federal privacy law that solves the issue - not another already-failed attempt like this.

It's hard for me to imagine that my $30 Cuisinart drip-coffee maker is spying on me, but whatevs. Maybe rocks are live, too.

by Anonymousreply 10July 12, 2023 11:01 PM

If your Cuisinart is connected or connectable to the internet or other devices, it can spy.

by Anonymousreply 11July 12, 2023 11:05 PM

The only thing it's connected to is the electrical outlet.

But the bitch has always been surly, so who knows.

by Anonymousreply 12July 12, 2023 11:10 PM

Can't wait for Ted's Water Pic to capture him beating off in the shower.

by Anonymousreply 13July 12, 2023 11:35 PM

I always get a laugh about all the things that supposedly spy on me, because I sure as hell don't do anything all that interesting. My coffee maker and toaster must be bored to tears

by Anonymousreply 14July 12, 2023 11:57 PM

All data is useful.

If a connected appliance is using your internet, then it may be transmitting your ip address and other data (e.g., "the person at this ip address uses the toaster every day at 7 a.m., but didn't for 2 weeks so we think that means he's on vacation"). Companies will sell lists of ip addresses by likely people.

Maybe you don't care about that data about you being collected. Maybe you do. Totes up to you.

by Anonymousreply 15July 13, 2023 12:19 AM

Nobody's disputing that data is useful.

Some of use just don't need the internet to make coffee in the morning.

by Anonymousreply 16July 13, 2023 12:22 AM

If my wife's appearance was disparaged by an opponent, I would never grovel to him afterward. NEVER!

by Anonymousreply 18July 13, 2023 12:32 AM

I'm in favor of this. In fact, I think it should insist there be a way to disable cameras and microphones on any device that has them.

by Anonymousreply 19July 13, 2023 12:34 AM

He's single-handedly made the phrase "Make sure Ted doesn't hear about the party" so common.

by Anonymousreply 21July 13, 2023 2:22 AM

My electric can opener side-eyed me when I opened this thread

by Anonymousreply 24July 13, 2023 2:28 AM

Somebody needs to throw Ted's coffee maker in the tub while he's taking a bath, STILL PLUGGED IN!

by Anonymousreply 25July 15, 2023 12:25 AM

Here I am thinking my toaster was telling me that Jesus loves me, never suspecting that it had a hidden agenda.

R26, I must have the same brand of toaster, but mine has the Virgin Mary appearing every breakfast.

by Anonymousreply 27July 15, 2023 5:46 AM

I think the toaster set features the Father, the Son, and the Holy Toast.

by Anonymousreply 28July 15, 2023 5:48 AM

Spying is when you’re being secretly observed without your consent.

If your airfryer is logging your IP address and taking photos of you crying while you open your second bottle of wine of the night and beaming it all over to the Chinese government then it was probably in the T&Cs. Consent has been given before you fried your first chicken nugget or onion ring. Ergo, this cannot be spying.

Ted’s energies would be better spent focusing on increasing consumer literacy, rather than this fucking idiotic tinhat bullshit nonsense. But that, of course, would mean not being a fucking grifting asshole. Jesus Christ, what a cunt.

by Anonymousreply 29July 15, 2023 6:46 AM

Ted will be top of the list for Supreme Court nominees if the Indian guy is elected.
