Has anyone ever been to or lived in the city of Rockville, Maryland? What's it like?

I've been to Rocktown, Maryland, OP. Does that count? Rockville is a suburb of D.C. What do you want to know?

Rockville, Maryland is a diverse and inclusive community that values and supports individuals from all backgrounds.
If you are a Darfur orphan in Rockville, you may find a welcoming and supportive environment where you can feel safe and accepted.
The community is likely to rally around you and provide you with the support and resources you need to thrive and succeed.
Overall, Rockville is a place where you can feel embraced and supported as you navigate the challenges of being a Darfur orphan.

No. Nobody has ever ever been to or lived in the city of Rockville, Maryland. Given that, it does not even legally constitute a village. It is simply a census-designated place.

[quote] What's it like?
In Rockville, Maryland all seems to breathe freedom and peace, and to make one forget the world and its sad turmoils.

It's typical of most suburbs — there are some nice areas and some shitty ones. Also, it's the DMV, so it's expensive and congested.

Rockville is an actual city in MD, not a census-designated place. The second largest city in MD.

OP, all the smut, anonymous BJ porn shops, are further East on Route1. You'll probably want to head over in that direction.

One of the best used book stores in the country

Many Italian restaurants and pizzerias in Rockville, MD rinse pasta after cooking it to remove excess starch and prevent it from sticking together. However, it ultimately depends on the chef's preference and the restaurant's cooking style.

The great thing about Rockville is that national treasure of a Maryland highway. Route 355. Its so beautiful and scenic that commuters on 355 can spend hours each and every day gazing in amazement . 🫢
If you are asking about relocating or a weeks vacation it would not be my first choice for either.

It's a concrete jungle of a suburb. Out of all the towns in Maryland, it reminds me of New Jersey. That being said, if you head north and west there is some pretty country for a Sunday drive.

Not as nice as Bethesda or Potomac, MD.

It used to have a Bloomingdale's.
White Flint Mall. Was a nice mall.

I once sucked a dick through a chainlink fence in rockville, MD.
He didn’t grab my ears and I didn’t steal his wallet, so win win!

Fun Fact: Part of the City of Rockville has a 20854 Zip Code, which is Potomac, MD one of, if not the, wealthiest areas in the USA. It lowers the household income average.

I’m from Gaithersburg but go to Rockville a lot. They have some good restaurants.

Don't go back to Rockville and waste another year.

I've lived in Rockville for 51 years. It's simultaneously boring suburbia and very ethnically diverse.

ETA: downtown Rockville is chock-full of Chinese restaurants, including the excellent Bob's Shanghai 66.
The main road changes its name every few miles. Starts off as 'Wisconsin Avenue', then it turns into Route 355/Rockville Pike, then it turns into Hungerford Drive for a mile or two, then it becomes Frederick Rd.
I did live in zip code 20854 back in the 70s, and now my old neighborhood off Seven Locks Rd has become almost entirely Hasidic Jews because it's convenient for them to walk to Temple on Saturday.

What r21 said. You'll find a lot of people that work at the NIH and FDA. Lots of biologists round those parts.
It's a fairly normal burb of DC. Has the red line for easy access to the city.

It's the suburb that other suburbs don't want to emulate. It's main drag, Rt 355 (which carries 3 different names) is about 5 miles of strip malls. Almost every big box store and national chain has a branch along it. It's ugly and congested. On the "right side of the rail and Metro tracks", you have upper-middle scale tract houses in leafy developments. Some of them don't have a Rockville postal address---those areas are especially sought after. Those areas also are in the better high school districts. The areas on the other side of the tracks include the segregation-era Black community and a similar working class area that used to be all-white but now is fairly diverse. This side of the tracks also includes neighborhoods with little GI Bill houses that now are grossly overpriced.
Every metro area has one or more suburbs like Rockville. Residents of Rockville wish they lived in Bethesda, Potomac or Faux-Potomac aka North Potomac. Most are glad they don't live in Wheaton or Gaithersburg.

I recently watched the 1964 film Lilith with Warren Beatty (he was in the movie, not sitting on the sofa with me). Some scenes were shot in downtown Rockville, including this one with Jessica Walters.

It’s ugly and depressing but there is a cute little old bar called Hank Dietles right on Rockville Pike. It’s the only remnant of the distant country past.
