New Book by COS Ex-Member Spills Dirt on Travolta

Mike Rinder is a former high ranking COS member, who along with Leah Remini, has kicked open the doors to many of the churches dirty secrets. I watched Leah's show and found all of the crap the church has done fascinating. The auditing and spying on members, paying for courses, recruiting celebs, etc. It's all a big nightmare.

Mike has written a book with the lurid title "A Billion Years: My Escape From a Life in the Highest Ranks of Scientology". He gave some juicy Travolta dirt with this excerpt: Mike claims that, back in the day, he was chatting to John in a hotel suite when a male masseur walked in the room and kissed John on the mouth. Let's see how John and/or the church spins this little tidbit.

The blurb also relates how the Beckhams were courted and how the church got nervous that Tom was pulling away during the filming of "Eyes Wide Shut" and sent a team to the set to audit the hell out of him... he got back on track after that.

John Travolta seems to be semi-retired from acting now, he seems to be focused on raising the two kids he had with Kelly Preston. I doubt that he will go to the press and make a statement to "clear his name".

I do give Mike Rinder credit, after hearing what hell the church puts members who leave through. On Leah's show, they told how they have goons who follow the folks who leave, go through their garbage, park outside their homes and just lurk and watch. Damn, that is some devious shit and Miscavage is a megalomaniac control freak.

You don’t hear much about that cult anymore. Are they just a non taxable real estate company now? Do they still have and recruit new members?

Sounds like a rather boring book. So far what he has revealed holds no surprises for anyone. We've heard the Travolta stories for decades - some of his masseurs have given first hand accounts of their encounters. As far as Cruise - same ol' same ol'. Nothing new here. At least, not for me.

No one’s going to mention Oprah, huh? People don’t remember, but Oprah was thick as thieves with the $ciento folks for a good long time. She had ALL of them on her show, multiple times. I will never forget Kirstie Alley in a body stocking/bikini/negligee, showing off her “weight loss” on Oprah’s show. Good times.

There was also the sub rosa campaign to recruit black people into the cult. Will and Jada did a lot of “community service”, and black pastors were enlisted to partner with them. To this day, there’s a $cientology center on East 125th St, with a big CROSS on the front of it — as if it’s a church. All the better to lure Bible-reading, god-fearing black folk “it’s just another church, folks”. Two miles downtown, just off Madison Avenue, in an unassuming brick townhouse with a modest shingle is the “celebrity centre”. This tasteful and unobtrusive location offers a “personality analysis” and personalized consulting. It’s all marketing.

Oprah seems to have given the $cientos the slip, though. She examined their techniques, as she has other “spiritual” leaders. I don’t think she’s searching for her own soul, I think she wants to become the ultimate cult leader. She wants to be the black L. Ron Hubbard.

I think that's what made Oprah and her syndicated talk show so successful for a quarter of a century. She didn't shy away from anyone or anything, and when it came to religions she tried to have all different religions on with different leaders and different members of the church. I don't believe she ever endorsed or joined CoS (not sure she was really 'thick as thieves' with any of them) ; if she had them on her show multiple times there is a reason for that - obviously those shows brought in a lot of viewers, which are high ratings, which makes advertisers very happy. If viewers stayed away from the CoS episodes, she would've never booked them repeatedly.

He and Preston had a second son Ben in 2010.

From what I've read the actual ranks of Scientologists is at an all time low. Most of their real estate holdings around the world basically sit empty all the time.

This is an old story that’s been out there.

If Travolta came out, no one would CARE. Who would cancel him or blackball him or whatever? No one. I don’t think.

But these old timers seem to have internalized homophobia or whatever you want to call it. It’s sad.
