Not all black people in America are descendants of slave. Some moved here over the last couple hundred of years. Are they still entitled to minority status? Can they claim white privilege? What if a white person moves to Africa, can they claim Black privilege?

I’m a young black male and I am SO embarrassed by black people on a consistent basis. I go out of my way to be extremely polite, cordial, and accommodating especially to white people, especially to women, because I know the stereotypes exist for a reason.

I grew up upper middle class and am often described as handsome, but in the back of my mind I always feel like people are judging me for my race, even though I’ve honestly never had any major problems with the law or anything else for that matter.

Today I was walking in the East Village and a young white woman walking about 50 feet in front of me was spat on by a derelict black man, who muttered to himself as he walked past me, “That’s right, I spat on you, fuckin’ bitch…” It had been completely unprovoked. They were just passing each other on the sidewalk, and when he got close enough to her, he spat in her face, for no reason at all.

It was so shocking and sad. Thankfully he didn’t punch her in the face or anything like that, but she was clearly traumatized by it. Actually it was a lot different before the white man came to town. What Native Americans did was steal from other tribes they were at war with. But those "slaves:" were not traded for money or things. They were often taken to replaced a family member in the tribe who died. Everyone in the tribe had a skill, so if they lost that skill that's what they were taken for. But they became part of the tribe. It wasn't until the white man came to America that they talked the Natives into their method of "slavery" which involved treating them more like cattle that can be bought, sold, worked and discarded.

How do I know? My great grandmother was one of those. She was stolen from another tribe as a baby. The Spaniards and the Native Americans did this all the time to each other. They were not called slaves by the way, they were raised by the tribe and became tribal members.
