For context; I’m in my 30s. I spend a great deal of time in my car or streaming music at home and the gym. I listen to SiriusXM channel 2 Hits 1 (and many others), or Apple Music hits on Sonos or workout playlists at the gym. I’ve heard everything that’s out there and I don’t give a good God damn what genre, style, or sub species the music is, I like what’s good. I listen to pop, r&b, rap, rock, country, blue grass, folk, among others.
Here’s your fucking list - In the pop/r&b/rap world, in absolutely no fucking order, these are a few of the standouts FOR ME; Post Malone, L’il Nas X, Sia, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Louis Capaldi, John Legend, The Lumineers, Khalid, Lady Gaga, Sam Smith, Adele, Ariana Grande, Lorde, Dababy, Kodak Black, Lizzo, 21 Savage, Harry Styles, Lil Baby, Drake, Jack Harlow, Beyonce, and several others. (I realize I threw The Lumineers in there, but I would include them in any damn list I make)
I can’t discuss formal music theory with you, nor music styles. I can only say, great voice, catchy tune, poetic verse, nice feel to it…
I don’t like Charlie Puth’s music not because I haven’t heard it. I dislike it because I have heard it. Except for 3 of his songs, it does rise above notice if except for the wrong reasons. I want to punch my car dash monitor when some of his music comes on. I can’t change the channel fast enough.
I don’t care that his ego is off the charts and disconnected from reality, I don’t care about his rumored genius or his music education, pitch, or playing by sound.
I do not like him in the car I do not like him at the bar I will not listen at the gym I do not care if you’re into him.
